Is the process of water conduction in plants.
The 2 factors responsible for it are :
- Transpirational pull,
- Cohesion force / Root pressure.
Explanation:
The major factor among the above 2 is Transpirational pull,
In it the leaves loose water through transpiration thereby causing concentration gradient for upward conduction of water.
This is the major part for ascent of sap in higher plants.
Root pressure plays a minor role.
It just keeps the water column straight and prevents back flow...
