Mechanism of blood clotting in humans

Explanation:

  • Loss of blood may lead to death of a person .
  • Blood coagulation is the process of forming a clot or thrombus so as to prevent excess loss of blood from body.
  • The primary step is the vasoconstriction , which responses to the injury of the body in the vascular wall. Walls reduce the amount of blood flow in the area infected.
  • Platelets cover the injured area to stop the bleeding .
  • They activates process which forms a fibrin clot.
  • Clotting factors activate each other this is called a cascade process
  • Cascade results in formation of fibrinogen , which is a soluble plasma protein , fibrin stick together to form a clot.
  • Injury⇒ prothrombinase⇒prothrombin⇒thrombin⇒fibrinogen ⇒fibrin + blood cells and plasma ⇒ clot.
