The Mechanism of breathing is the process by which Oxygen-rich Gas is inhaled and the Carbon Dioxide is exhaled. During Inspiration ribs move up and outwards and the Diaphragm moves down. This movement increases space in our chest cavity and air rushes into the Lungs.

Answer:

The mechanism of breathing involves two main processes: inspiration and expiration. Inspiration occurs when the diaphragm and the external intercostal muscles contract. ... The contraction or relaxation of muscles around the lungs changes the entire volume of air inside the lungs, and so does the pressure.
