Answer:

In solids, conduction is mediated by the combination of vibrations and collisions of molecules, of propagation and collisions of phonons, and of diffusion and collisions of free electrons. In gases and liquids, conduction is due to the collisions and diffusion of molecules during their random motion

ridhima2947126: Heat conduction in solids is primarily carried out by phonons. They can be defined as the quantum of lattice vibrations of the solids. However, in metallic solids heat conduction is carried out by both free electrons and phonons. In contrast, in non-metallic solids heat conduction is carried out only by phonons. Thermal conductivity of solids is eventually determined by the corresponding phonon-phonon interactions and phonon-electron interactions.
