To attract flies or other prey, the Venus flytrap secretes nectar on to its open traps. Insects smell the sweet nectar and once they land on the leaves, they trip the trigger hairs on the outside of the traps. This causes the cells in the leaves to expand. In less than a second, the leaves shut.

In a Venus fly trap it releases a stinky rotten smell which attracts insect like house fly which goes towards the town smell and sits on the opened mouth part of the trap which suddenly closes after the insects touches it like touch me not plant and the spikes on the outer most part ofthe plant rubs itself and kills the insect and completeits need for nitrogen...
