Explain the methods required for the separation of the following mixtures
(a) iron filing and ana idine (b) chalk powder, grain and chaff
(c) common salt, sand and marbles (d) pebbles, water and salt​

Answer:

(a) use a magnet. the magnet will attract the iron fillings towards it and iodine would be left behind in the china dish or petri dish or whatever you wish to say.

(b) they can all be separated using the simple method "decantation" or just centrifuge it they will separated on the basis of their densities

(c) mix them with water , the salt will dissolve in the water , the sand and the marbles are separated  you can obtain salt by crystallisation

(d) the salt would be dissolved in the water as we have discussed above and can be separated by crystallisation and pebbles can be separated by decantation or filtration if you want to really "accurate"
