Some of the methods through which plants practice cross pollination are -

a) Pollination by Wind: When the pollen grains from male reproductive organs of a plant are carried to the female reproductive organs of another plant with the help of wind, it is known as pollination by wind. Plants such as grasses, birch, oak, poplar etc are carried by wind

b) Pollination by Animals: When the pollen grains of a plant while being eaten by an animal or bird stick to any part of their body and stays with them until they unknowingly shred it off on another plant, causes pollination by animals.

c) Pollination by water: When the surface of water becomes the medium to carry pollen grains to another place for a plant to grow, it is pollination by water e.g. Hydrophily

d) Pollination by Artificial Methods: When humans scatter seeds of plants with their hands, it is known as pollination by artificial methods.
