Microspheres are small spherical particles with diameters from 1 to 1000 μm (Jyothi et al., 2010; Singh et al., 2010). In some cases, microspheres are also known as microparticles. Microspheres can be produced from several natural and synthetic polymeric materials or even from inorganic materials (Jyothi et al., 2010). For example, microspheres can be produced from commercially available polymers or ceramics. Depending on the method, solid or porous microspheres can be obtained for specific intended applications.
