Benzene is hyrdocarbon which was discovered by Micheal Faraday in 1825.
It is obtained by distillation of coal tar.
The molecular formula is C6H6 .
The structure of benzene is shown as a ring named cyclohexatriene.
Earlier the stability of the ring was not justified. the modern concept thus, show that the molecule of benzene is actually flat and that the six carbon-carbon bonds are of equal length to ensure the stability.
