The amoeba moves or rather locomotes through amoeboid creeping movement.

Before the amoeboid locomotion the amoeba withdraws the pseudopodias (locomotary structure of amoeba).After that due to local solation of the plasma gel (decrease in viscosity)into plasma sol pseudopodias are developed in the direction of the locomotion.

This process of forming pseudopodia is called phasereversal.

The pseudopodia then anchors itself to any substratum, and pulls the body thus resulting in creeping movement in the required direction.
