Hello
There are many factors due to which planet does motion around the sun.
Its motion is in spherical path and is always directed outwards in the direction of tangent.
The thing which binds the planets in their path is the great gravitational force exerted by the sun.
This motion is accelerated motion becoz the path is oval and it is not symmetrical at according to the distance near the sun

Hi
The planet moves around the sun on nearly circular path. To keep this path planets requires a centipetal force and it is provided by gravitational pull between sun and earth.
