well, Acc to first law of Newton,
THE BALL MUSTN'T MOVE.
unless it's already moving,in which case
IT MUSTN'T STOP.
UNLESS somebody or something puts external force on it.
INERTIAAAAA!!! AARGH.

Newton first law says that if an body in motion then it remains in motion and if a body in a rest then it remains in a rest until we applied some external force on the body.
so we apply this law if we have to move a ball then we have to applied an external force on the ball to move it and when the ball is moving it remains in moving until, wewe applied some force to stop it . But in daily life we do experiment of the ball in our house then it stop after some distance this is because of the resistance of the air in our atmosphere or surrounding.
but if we create a vacuum then it remain in motion
