Explain the nature of help India got from USA under PL-480.

Under the PL 480 agreement between India and the United States of America, India was able to procure a food funding from USA, during the severe food shortage in 1965, during which India has a serious deficit of Rice and other cereals for consumption of the masses.

Under this agreement, US supplied approximately 600 ships filled with rice throughout the year 1965.

Established in the year 1954 between USA and India.
