There are various environmental conditions in Ladakh which are to be adapted by the various people:

  • Due to higher altitude in Ladakh, density of air is less and the atmosphere is rarified.
  • Oxygen is scarce due to this reason and people have to get adapted and acclimatized in these conditions by adjustment mechanisms in the body.
  • Water shortages has resulted in worries of the local people especially farmers.
  • Average rainfall is only 50 to 70 millimeters a year so farming is too difficult.
  • However, this problem is solved and people have adapted by creating an irrigation network.
