Contemporary history, in English-language historiography, is a subset of modern historywhich describes the historical period from approximately 1945 to the present. The term "contemporary history" has been in use at least since the early 19th century.

Contemporary era is considered to be the late modern period. It begins from the early nineteenth century. It can be called as an information age and the era of computer technology. Through computers, the sharing of information was swift and easy. The availability of internet was considered to be digital revolution that happened in late modern period.  

Many social websites and search engines gained popularity till now. Online shopping has become very famous and the financial transactions happened online.  

Terrorism and protest against it is an unending phenomenon in the late modern period, people easily resorted to violence in order to gain their selfish needs. Globalization and western influence is having a major impact in the society. Concentration of wealth is the major problem facing globally.
