  • NREGA stands for "National Rural Employment Guarantee Act 2005" it was implemented by the central government.
  • It was passed for promoting rural employment for people who are living below poverty line and are able to, and willing to work have been guarantee 100 days employment in a year by the government.
  • If government fails to fulfil or provide employment to those people who registered there name under this Act will be given unemployment allowance.
  • It is applicable for only 200 districts, now it is extended to 330 districts of india
