ocean thermal energy is that form of energy which utilizes the difference in the temperature of sea or ocean water at the surface and at some distance beneath..
it can be harnessed by taking warm water from surface and using it to boil valatile material like ammonia whose vapours r used to turn turbines and then using cool water from deep under sea to turn those vapours again to liquid
it's limitation is that the difference in temperature at almost 2 km depth and surface should be more than 20° and second is that their efficient commercial exploitation is difficult
