  • The “4d” series elements are called as Transition metals.
  • The oxidation state of any element represent loosing or gaining of that atom. All transition elements have multiple oxidation state.
  • Hence, Transition metals have “variable oxidation states”.
  • Due to the presence of ‘very small energy difference’ in between the ‘(n-1)d’ and ‘ns sub- shell electrons’ from those both sub-shells are take part in the bonding.
