Explain the phenomenon due to which the straw in the glass appear like broken?

It is refraction....... Refraction is the phenomenon in which light Ray travel from one median to other median e.g..... Rare to densor..... That densor median refract the Ray from its path..... In this the angle of incidents is not equal to angle of refraction....
