Explain the phenomenon of multiple alleles and codominance taking a b o blood group as an example

in humans ABO system of blood group is a good example of multiple alleles...

three alleles namely IA, IB and IO in which A and B are equally dominant and produce a and b antigens respectively . allele I  has no antigen over it and is recessive.

blood group A has antigen A and antibody b.

blood group B has antigen B and antibody a.

blood group AB has  both a and b antigens and no anti body.

blood group O has no antigens and has both the antibodies.
