Scattering of light is the phenomenon in which, when a beam of white light shines on minute particles,the different colors of light are scattered according to their wave length. The minute particles are called scatterers.
Astronauts cannot see rainbow in space because there is no tiny particles or scatterer to scatter the light rays. So astronaut see only dark in space.
