TIR stands for Total Internal Reflection , in this the incident ray got reflected totally inside the denser medium i.e. water (say) .
TIR always occurs from denser to rarer medium .
in TIR refraction angle(r) is 90° & the incident angle denoted by (ic) also called critical angle in this case .
If the ray falls greater than the critical angle it suffers TIR .
Some examples of TIR is :-
1. Optical fibres
2. Shining of diamond , due to its very less critical angle.
