Explain the phenomenon where f1 hybrid has characteristics of both the parents

F1 generation plants has traits of both the parent plant. Eg- there is a round, yellow seed and a wrinkled, green seed, if this two plants cross each other then the f1 progeny can be wrinkled green or round green, which has characteristic of both parent plants.
