The photoelectric effect is the emission of electrons or other free carriers when light shines on a material. Electrons emitted in this manner can be called photo electrons.

✴ When a particular frequency of light get a strike on over metal surface electron get ejected from metal.
✴ electron is known as photoelectron and this phenomena is known as Photoelectric effect.
✴ in periodic table top to bottom ionisation energy decreases so Photoelectric effect increases.

Li < Na < K < Rb < Cs
Be < Mg < Ca < Sr < Ba
✴'Be' does not show photoelectric effect.
