plants make their their own food from photosynthesis.....

raw material like H2O water and CO2 carbon dioxide is taken and carbohydrates is formed in the presence of sunlight and in presence of green pigment called chlorophyll which is present in cell organelle is called chloroplast and is present in the mesophyll tissue of plant.......oxygen is liberated as a byproduct during the process

steps of photosynthesis

  1. taking of H2O and CO2 as raw material
  2. breaking down of H2O into H2 and O2
  3. reduction of carbon dioxide into carbohydrates
  4. liberation of oxygen as a byproduct

carbohydrate provides energy to the plant and extra is stored as starch in plants

and glycogen in animals
