What Einstein meant by this quote, “Science without religion is lame” is that science would not have progressed remarkably without religion. This is because the inspiration and motivation for scientific research was due to the aspirations of seeking truth and understanding the bigger picture which is what religious discussions lead to. Look at how the negative effects of the dark ages had inspired thinkers and scientist to go beyond boundaries and put in the effort to explain the unexplainable. By understanding logical concepts, especially physical ones, one’s judgement is better equipped to understand and analyze anything of interest.
While “Religion without science is blind” is obviously explaining that religion should also consists of logical and physical attributes that would further solidfy hypothesis or claims in religion. Religion is not to be totally believed if science disproves otherwise (This only refers to laws, approved theories and not theories that are still baseless despite some but not substantial evidence to back it up). Science could also act as leverage in disproving or proving one’s religious belief, giving much better clarity or insight to the mind as it could be clouded by emotional or traditional thoughts that complicates one’s rationale judgement.

》》Einstein said this because, a few paragraphs before the line you post here, he defines how he sees religion, and it’s not how most see it:
★★“At first, then, instead of asking what religion is I should prefer to ask what characterizes the aspirations of a person who gives me the impression of being religious: a person who is religiously enlightened appears to me to be one who has, to the best of his ability, liberated himself from the fetters of his selfish desires and is preoccupied with thoughts, feelings, and aspirations to which he clings because of their superpersonalvalue.”
■■Later, he makes his feelings on Christianity perfectly clear:
●●"The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honourable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this."
