“ When you are old” is a poem written by William Butler Yeats. In the poem, the speaker expresses about the love between the speaker and his ex-mistress. He expresses his grief that there was truly pure love between them but the relationship somehow didn’t work out.
Here the line from the second stanza “And loved the sorrows of your changing face” explains that he always loved her and understood her in any situation. He expresses that there were other men who would love her with love true or false but between them, there was such a love that he could understand and grasp her feelings in any kind of mood she was in. He would comfort her with an immense understanding of her pain.
