What is Wi-max:

wimax is nothing but worldwide interoperability for microwave access and is similar to wifi.  However, it works on a much larger scale and at faster speeds. Wimax covers greater distance and can cover large cities. wimax also has a range of up to 30 miles. This wireless technology allows data to be transferred at a rate of 30 megabits - 40 megabits per second. wimax has a relatively low cost when compared to 3G, hfc , etc.

What is Wi-Fi:

wifi is abbreviated as wireless fidelity. wifi is the most popular wireless communication technology used within a room or a building for connecting to the internet. wifi uses radio waves (RF) to allow two or more devices to communicate with one another. The technology is most commonly used to connect devices like computers, tablets and mobile phones to the internet. Wifi networks need to be password protected for security purposes to safeguard it from unauthorised users.
