The World population has been increasing since 1800. In 1800 the population was estimated to be around 1 billion and has been increasing upward since then. Some of the parts of the World with high population growth have low literacy levels which also result in poor living conditions as opposed to nations where the rate of growth is low. The era of industrial revolution in the late 18th century resulted in rapid increase in population in the Western world. Increase in population was attributed to certain factors.
1. The decline of childhood mortality and also infant mortality.
2. Improved nutrition due to rising standards of living.
3. Public health measures which were emphasized such as vaccination, sanitary reforms, and quarantine.
4. Availability of curative medicine to the people.
