The postulates of modern cell theory are:

  • There are three postulates to the modern cell theory.
  • The first postulate is - All living organisms are composed of cells. All the living things around us are made of cells. These cells are formed by mitosis or meiosis.
  • The second postulate is - The structure and functions of the cells are essentially the same. All living organisms which have the same cells, they may perform the same functions. They may also be same in structure. Cells like stomatal cells are the same in all plants and perform the same function.
  • The third postulate is - The function of an organism is the result of the activities and interactions of constituents of the cell. All the parts of the cell interact with one another. This results in chemical changes in the body of the organism.
