The powers of the Indian President are as follows -

1) All major appointments are made in the name of the President. This includes appointment of the chief justice of India, judges of the Supreme Court & the High Courts of the states, the Election Commissioners, ambassadors to other countries etc.

2) The President is the supreme commander of the defence forces of India.

3) All laws & major policy decisions of the government are issued in his name.

4) All international treaties & agreements are made in the name of the President.

5) All governmental activities take place under the name of the President.
