Chromatography gets its name from the Greek word colour 'kroma' as it was forst used for separating colours
Chromatography is used to separate a mixture that comprise solutes that dissolve in the same solvent

✍️ Chromatography is a technique of separating two or more dissolved solids which are present in a solution in very small quantities.

✍️ This separation is based on the fact that though two or more substances are soluble in the same solvent but their solubilties may be different.

✍️ Black ink is a mixture of several coloured substances (or dyes) which can be separated by paper chromatography.

PRINCIPLES OF CHROMATOGRAPHY -

1)Chromatography is used to separate solutions of coloured substances (dyes and pigment).

2)Chromatography is used in forensic science to detect and identify trace amounts of substance (like poisons) in the content of bladder or stomach.

3)Chromatography is used to separate small amounts of products of chemical reaction.
