The biogas or methane digestion involvesfermentation anaerobic (without air) residues and various organic materials(cattle dung, pig, human faeces, etc.).. This fermentation leads to the formation of a methane-rich gas called biogas. Thisenergy source is used directly for powering appliances such as refrigerators, gas lamps, burners, or to generate electricity through a generator (see diagram below ).
The bioconversion is carried out in sealed vats called digesters.

A biogas plant is a structure made of bricks and used to generate electricity. The working of a biogas plant is as follows:
A slurry is made to flow in from the inlet of the plant. It is a mixture of water and cowdung.
The slurry then flows into the digester in which bacteria are present , for about a week.
The bacteria perform anaerobic respiration and release methane has , which is taken to homes through pipes.
The leftover dry material is sludge , which is used for agriculture as it is very high in nutrients.
Hope this helps. Please mark my answer as brainliest if it helped you !
