In case of urban areas educated unemployment has become a common phenomenon .
1) many youth with matriculation, graduation and post graduation degrees are not able to find job .
2) a study showed that unemployment of graduate and postgraduate has increased faster than among matriculates.
3) a paradoxical manpower situation is witnessed as surplus of Manpower in certain categories coexist with shortage of Manpower in others.
4) there is unemployment among technically qualified person on one hand while there is a dearth of Technical skill required for economic growth.

The joblessness among the educated matriculates and above is called educated unemployment . of these, dear maybe some suffering from open unemployment. There maybe others who are unemployed. In December 2011 there 7.2 million educated unemployed person registered in employment exchange of the country.

Educated unemployment in India has arisen because of the following reason :-
•There has been lost expansion of educational facilities in the country since independence.
•The education system in India is not employment-oriented. There is too much emphasis on general education rather than vocational education.
