Fossil fuels are formed when plant or animal dies in a moist environment with bacterias and microbes then these dead plants or animals gets decomposed.

Decomposition occurs either by

1) detritus food chain

2) parasitic food chain

3)grazing or predator food chain

Any of the above food chain has a role to assimilate the dead matters into smaller particles.

These causes the soft and tender tissue's of the matters to decompose and thus leaving the hard calcareous bones behind

Over time sediment builds on top and thus forms into rocks overtime .

The bones are dissolved eventually by water which get inside by seeping through the rocks created by the bones.
