Wastewater treatment is the process of converting wastewater – water that is no longer needed or is no longer suitable for use – into bilge water that can be discharged back into theenvironment. It’s formed by a number of activitiesincluding bathing, washing, using the toilet, and rainwater runoff. Wastewater is full of contaminants including bacteria, chemicals and other toxins. Its treatment aims at reducing the contaminants to acceptable levels to make the water safe fordischarge back into the environment. There are two wastewater treatment plants namely chemical or physical treatment plant, and biological wastewater treatment plant. Biological waste treatment plants use biological matter and bacteria tobreak down waste matter.

1.the sewarage system carries sewage to the waste water treatment plant.

2.the waste water is cleaned and purified by various procsess here.they are
1)Coagulation and Flocculation. Coagulation and flocculation are often the first steps in water treatment.
2)Sedimentation. During sedimentation, floc settles to the bottom of the water supply, due to its weight.
3)Filtration.
4)Disinfection.
