The process of silk production involves following steps-

1) Separation of the silk fibre from the cocoon- For this it is needed to be exposed to warmth. Piles of cocoon are kept under the sun, boiled or exposed to steam. The warmth causes the silk fibre to separate from the rest of the cocoon.

2) Reeling-It is the process of delicately unwinding the fibre from the cocoon. It is also done in special machines.

3) Bleaching and dying-After reeling the silk thread is bleached and dyed into many shades.

4) Spinning-The silk fibre is then spun into silk thread which is then woven into silk cloth by weavers.

Answer:

The process of silk production is known as sericulture. ... Extracting raw silk starts by cultivating the silkworms on mulberry leaves. Once the worms start pupating in their cocoons, these are dissolved in boiling water in order for individual long fibres to be extracted and fed into the spinning reel.
