as we know there are two types of respiration aerobic respiration and anaerobic respiration aerobic respiration takes place in the presence of Oxygen and anaerobic respiration takes place in the absence of oxygen.:-

AEROBIC RESPIRATION

it is called aerobic respiration because it uses air which contains oxygen aerobic means with air in aerobic respiration the glucose food is completely broken down into carbon dioxide and water by oxidation aerobic respiration produce a considerable amount of energy for the use of organisms which gets stored in the form of ATP molecules.

GLUCOSE ------------> PYRUVATE ------------> 6CO2 + 6H2O+38ATP

ANAEROBIC RESPIRATION

IT IS CALLED ANAEROBIC RESPIRATION BECAUSE IT TAKES PLACE WITHOUT IN THE AIR CONTAINING OXYGEN AND AEROBIC MEANS WITHOUT AIR THE MICROSCOPIC ORGANISMS LIKE YEAST AND SOME BACTERIA OBTAIN ENERGY BY AN AEROBIC RESPIRATION IN ANAEROBIC. RESPIRATION THE MICROORGANISMS LIKE YEAST BREAKDOWN GLUCOSE FOOD INTO ETHANOL AND CARBON DIOXIDE AND RELEASE ENERGY.
glucose----------> pyruvate -----------> in the absence of oxygen it forms to C2 h5 0h + 2C02 + 2 ATP

Answer:

(i) In the presence of oxygen When breakdown of glucose is carried out in the presence of oxygen in a cell, it is called as aerobic respiration. Glucose is converted into a 3 carbon molecule called pyruvate which further breaks down in the presence of oxygen to form carbon dioxide and water.

in the presence of oxygen , when glucose is completely broken down into carbon dioxide water and energy is released in the form of ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) ..... and equation for this to represent it is : GLUCOSE ---> CARBON DIOXIDE + WATER + ENERGY

(ii) In the absence of oxygen When breakdown of glucose is carried out in the absence of oxygen in a cell, it is called as anaerobic respiration. This process is called as fermentation in microbes. Ethyl alcohol or lactic acid is produced by the breakdown of pyruvate.

in the absence of oxygen, glucose is broken down into lactic acid nd produce two molecules of ATP in animals and in plants glucose is broken down into ethanol nd CO2.....nd produce 2 molecules of ATP...............................the whole process is done in cytoplasm of the cells.....in tge absence of oxygen•••
