The function of the countercurrent multiplier is there to produce the hyperosmotic Medullary Interstitium. The ADH promotes water, reabsorption through the walls of the distal convoluted tubule and collecting duct.

The function of the Countercurrent exchanger “vasa recta” is for maintain hyperosmolar medulla.
