Making satisfactory decisions is the need of the hour whether it is the case of a country or of a one's home. Even in my family, nothing is done without giving a forethought. Generally decisions not related to children are decided by my parents but there are certain decisions which need everyone's opinion. So we generally have a decision as no can predict whose suggestion can be helpful. I would like to give my own example, When i was in 10, so general topic of discussion was of subjects I have to choose in 11, so I was given full time to understand and was asked to choose only those sub. , I can study. There was no pressure from my parent's side and thus I was given liberty to choose........... So there are certain decisions which need everyone's point of view and no decision is taken without learning its consequences and hence, at least in my family, the process of decision making is democratic.

The process of making decisions is not always democratic in my family. It is more like issue based. There are issues in which the individual members dominate. There are types of decisions which are influenced by one or two members. So the process of decision making is not always open for discussion.

But there are matters that all members could sort of vote in favour of their opinion. Then the value of the opinion is weighed against the odds. Usually my parents take decision giving due consideration and priority to our view. Also if our opinion can be followed to the extent possible, that is done. Further, our inconvenience suffered due to any decision of the family, is compensated in some manner.

To that extent I say that our family is a good traditional and democratic family.
