Explain the process of digestion in ruminants digest their food in two steps? Short answer
Answers
Answer:
Due to half way digestion the food matter becomes softer than earlier and the animal can chew it well. Again they swallow the chewed food for the second time where further digestion is carried on. Thus ruminants digest their food in two steps as they swallow the same food twice.
Answer:
Rumination, also called cud-chewing, is the process by which the cow regurgitates (casts up) previously consumed feed and masticates it a second time. The re-chewed feed with saliva is formed into a bolus and swallowed a second time. It is the floating, large particles on top of the rumen which are re-chewed.
The main differences between cows and humans in the digestive system are the teeth, mouth, stomach, gut and enzymes. The digestion starts in the mouth with 32 teeth. After getting chewed in the mouth it goes to the Rumen. The Rumen is the main part of a cows four stomachs.
