ruminants directly swallow their food. the food is stored in rumen where it gets partially digested and is called cud. the food then again returns to the mouth and the animal chews it. then it goes to a sac like structure present between the small and large intestines from where the cellulose of food gets digested by the action of certain bacterias. the rest of the process is same.
