The food is absorbed by the small intestine. There are finger like projections inside small intestine which provide more surface are for the absorption of food. From here the waste material is sent to large intestine and from there sent to anus and it is excreted.

The mouth is the beginning of thedigestive tract. In fact, digestionstarts here as soon as you take the first bite of a meal. Chewing breaks the food into pieces that are more easily digested, while saliva mixes with food to begin the process of breaking it down into a form your body can absorb and use this.
