the process of digestion is started in mouth.teeth present in mouth break down the complex food particles and saliva is secreted by tongue which makes the food soft and soluble.

now the food goes to stomach through oesophagus by peristaltic movement. food churned in stomach for 3 hours. various types of gastric juice is secreated in stomach which helps in digestion.

HCl is secreated in stomach which kill the germs and make the food food acidic so that pepsin can act on it. pepsin break down the proteins.

now the food goes to small intestime where different type of enzymes secreated which helps in breakdown the food. In the pathway they get the secretion of pancreatic juice ,pancreas bile juice and bile salt. bile salt break down large globules of fat in small globules

now in the small intestine various enzymes is secreated such as trypsin, amylase and lipase these juices breakdown the food and helps in digestion..
