Embryogenesis
- Multicellular structure developed from the zygote is called embryo.
- Embryo is the most important part of the seed, it is diploid.
- In angiosperms the zygote is divided by a transverse wall form an upper and lower cell.
- The upper cell is seen towards the micropylar and the lower cell towards the chalazal end.
- Upper cell also called hypobasal or basal cell lower cell is called epibasal or terminal cell.
- This two celled stage is called two celled pro embryo.
- The lower terminal cell divides and redivides to form embryo proper.
- Embryo proper form the multicellular embryo.
