Answer:

Million years ago when the aquatic plants and animals were buried under the sea then gradually they got covered with sand and mud. the chemical effects of Temperature.pressure, heat and bacteria converted the remains of microscopic plants and animals into petroleum oil and natural gas.

the conversion took place in absence of oxygen of air. The petroleum thus formed got trapped between two layers of impervious rocks forming an oil trap.

A fossil fuel, petroleum is formed when large quantities of dead organisms, mostly zooplankton and algae, are buried underneath sedimentary rock and subjected to both intense heat and pressure. Petroleum has mostly been recovered by oil drilling (natural petroleum springs are rare).
