→The process of inspiration is initiated by the contraction of diaphragm which increases the volume of thoracic chamber in antero - posterior axis.

→The contraction of external inter - coastal muscles lifts up the ribs and sternum, causing a total increase in the volume of the thoracic chamber in the dorso - ventral axis.

→Now , the over all increase in the thoracic volume causes a similar increase in pulmonary volume.

→And as if net pulmonary volume is increased causes the intra - pulmonary pressure to decrease that to less than the atmospheric pressure, which forces the air from outside to move into the lungs that is the process of inspiration takes place.

Hey,

Answer:-
Inspiration is the process of bringing air from
outside the body into the lungs.. when air enters the lungs , the diaphragm contracts
toward the abdominal cavity, thereby increasing the space in the thoracic cavity
for accommodating the inhaled air .
