Like other insects, life cycle of a house fly also starts with an egg.

- Eggs and Maggots: A female housefly releases eggs in abundance which later on hatch into larvae also called maggots

- Molting: In less than two days, maggots double their size and start the process of molting. Molting is defined as a process of shedding an older exoskeleton and builds a new one.

- Pupa After the molting, the larvae turn into a dark brown color and enter a pupa stage. Inside the pupa shell, a house fly develops.

-Adult fly: In order to break the pupa shell, house fly secretes a secretion that breaks the pupa and releases an adult house fly.
