Answer
- There are certain steps of obtaining the wool from the sheep. Long before, the people used to take the wool from animals by themselves.
- But, now there are some useful machines in which they are used to obtain the wool from different animals.
Process of obtaining wool :-
Shearing :-
- The animals that gives wool have hair-like structure called fleece. This fleece and the thin layer of skin of it's body is removed from it's body. This process is mostly done in summer season.
- This is done in summer season because, the animals can live warmer because they'll not have their thick layer of hair.
- Now, the machines are used to cut the fleece, the sheep doesn't get hurt because their hair are dead cells.
Scouring :-
- As we know that the removed hair of the animals contain many dust and dirt. This should be removed as the wool doesn't get spoiled. So, there is a process called scouring.
- In this process, the sheared fleece is washed thoroughly in fresh water, so that the dust and dirt gets washed clearly.
- Before, the people scoured the fleece in large tanks. But, now there are machines which cleans the fleece.
Sorting :-
- There are many types of wool in which they need to be seperated. So, we can seperate the many types of wool into one type.
- In this process, we can sort the wool in different ways. There are two types of wool. They are, coarse beard hair and the other is fine soft under hair.
- These are also seperated before shearing. There are two types of sheep's that gives rough and the other gives soft wool.
Dyeing :-
- The wool have two different types when came to the colors. They are the black wool and the white wool. They are needed to be coloured in various colours.
- These type of dyeing of wool was before done in big tanks. They put the colour into the big tanks and also the wool. Then, they stir it well so that all the wool can be painted.
- Now, there are machines which are used to paint the wool which makes us easier to dye them.
Rolling :-
- The above steps are all done and are ready to weave the clothes from them. But, they should be stored properly so that they do not spoil.
- So, the process of rolling is used to roll the wool into yarns can store in the factories.
- Now, the machines are available to roll the yarns and they store them in their own machine.
Animals that yeild wool are :-
- Sheep
- Cashmere goat
- Angora goat
