Answer:

The gradual passing of a liquid through a thin layer of material is called osmosis.

In this process, the net movement of solvent molecules move throught a selectively permeable membrane from a reagion of high water potential to lower water potential region.

For Example:-

The absorption of water by plant roots from the soil.

The guard cells of a plant cell are affected by osmosis. When a plant cell is filled with water the guard cells swell up for the stomata to open nd let out excess water.
